The UMBC women's lacrosse team plays its second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association opponent when they visit the Towson Tigers on Wednesday, Feb. 29. The opening draw is set to take place at 4:00 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

 SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS

-       Junior midfielder Lindsay Cox scored a career-high five goals and the UMBC (1-1) defense stymied host George Mason in a 13-1 Retriever victory at George Mason Stadium on Feb.

-       The one goal allowed was the Retrievers' fewest since permitting just one score on Feb. 14, 2009, when they routed Howard 19-1.

-       UMBC had a 3-0 lead just 3:08 into the game and were in control at 8-0 before 20 minutes hadexpired. Cox scored four of UMBC's eight first half goals and senior attack Emily Coady pitched in with a goal and two helpers. Sophomore midfielder Kristin Bilney added eight draw controls, as the Retrievers dominated time of possession by taking 12 of 16 draws.

-       UMBC outshot its hosts, 37-10, and were 14-of-14 on clears.

-       Junior goalkeeper Kendall Mason got credit for the win with one save in 30 minutes... Freshman Anna Barnett saw her first collegiate action and had five stops without allowing a second half score.

-       Coady is UMBC's active leading scorer with 82 career goals and 113 points. Senior Alicia Krause is close behind with 80 goals and 108 points.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

-       The Tigers (1-0) had seven different players find the back of the net in a 16-5 win over Oregon in the season openeron Feb. 21. Junior Kelly Custer along with sophomores Katie Leech and Andi Raymond each had three goals in the game. Senior Mary Teeters made 10 saves in goal for the Tigers.

-       Like UMBC, Towson finished the 2011 season with a record of 11-7.  Their leading returning scorer is senior Sarah Appelt, the younger sister of UMBC assistant coach Amy Appelt., who scored 18 goals and added 22 assists last season.

 INSIDE THE SERIES

-       UMBC snapped a six-game losing streak to the Tigers in a 10-9 Retriever victory at UMBC Stadium in 2011. Trailing 5-3 early in the second half, UMBC went on a 5-0 run and built a 10-7 lead before holding off a Tiger rally.

-       Krause has scored two goals in each of her games vs. Towson.

-       The game will be the 35th all-time meeting between UMBC and Towson, and the Tigers hold a 28-6 series advantage. Towson on the last match Johnny Unitas Stadium, a 14-8 decision in 2010
