Gilreath hits NCAA Provisional Mark in Triple Jump, Colbert Breaks 55-Meter Hurdles Record as UMBC Indoor Track and Field Finishes America East Championships Saturday

BOSTON-- Sophomore Victor Gilreath (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech/Maryland) broke a school record and hit a NCAA provisional quallifying mark in the triple jump and won gold in the high jump as the UMBC indoor track and field teams competed in the final day of the America East Championships at Boston University. The men's team finished fourth with 123 points, while the women placed seventh with 57 points. Boston University won the women's side, while Albany won the men's.

Freshman Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers) earned silver in the 55-meter hurdles while breaking a UMBC record in a time of 8.00. Senior Kierra Gregory (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) took the bronze in a time of 8.36. On the men's side, junior Keith Brown (Columbia, Md./McDonough) also earned silver in 7.61, while junior Camal Pugh (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) placed third in 7.79.

In the heptathlon, UMBC finished 1-2-5-7, as junior Dominic Devaud (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) won the gold with 4,884 points and freshman Matt Waters (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) took the silver with 4,714 points. Junior Michael Buccheri (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan/Monmouth) placed fifth, while senior Jude Rene (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton North/Monmouth) took seventh.

Junior Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England/Loughborough University) earned two bronze medals in the 1-mile run and 3,000-meter run. Her mile time of 4:57.06 qualifies for her the ECAC Championships and her 3K time of 9:59.40 was a personal best.

The men's 4x400 relay team of juniors Marcus Dickerson (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers), Mohamed Koroma (Mitchelville, Md./C.H. Flowers/Morgan State) and Brandon Ellerby (Chesterfield, Va./Lloyd C. Bird/Morgan State) and freshman Joshua Hewitson (New Market, Md./Linganore) finished fourth in an IC4A qualifying time of 3:19.69.

Hewitson also finished fifth in the 500-meter dash in a season-best time of 1:04.79.

The Retrievers return to action March 7 for the IC4A/ECAC Championships, held in Boston, Mass.
