    Volunteer Assistant Throws

Kadine Johnson is back  with UMBC as avolunteer coach for a second year after an outstanding career atAmerica East rival UAlbany. Johnson will work primarily with thethrowers.

This past summer, Johnson returned to her native Jamaicato compete in the Olympic Trials in the hammer throw.  Shefell just short in her attempt to qualify for the Olympics,however, as her toss of 56.99m (186'11") was less than a meter shyof the event winner's mark.  During workouts leading up to theTrials, Johnson set a new personal-best of 58.22m.

The New Rochelle, N.Y. native is the UAlbany record holderin the hammer throw (57.53m; 188'9") as well as the weight throw(18.02m; 59'1").  In addition to assisting the UMBC track andfield teams, Johnson is enrolled in graduate school at theUniversity of Baltimore.
