Biography

2021-22:

  • Swam a personal best time and placed tenth in the 200 breaststroke at the ECAC Winter Championships
  • Won the 100 breaststroke vs. VMI
  • Earned crucial points for UMBC with a fourth place effort in the 100 breaststroke versus Towson

2020-21:

  • Named Team’s Most Improved Athlete
  • Competed in both breaststroke events at the America East Championships and posted the 11th- best time in the 200 yards
  • Her marks in both events were personal bests

2019-20:

  • Competed in 50 free and 100 and 200 breaststroke events at 2020 ECAC Championships
  • Set personal best in five events during the course of the season
  • Those new marks were in the 50 free (ECAC’s), 100 free (at Towson), 200 free (at George Mason), 1000 free (vs. VMI) and 200 breaststroke (vs. Navy)

2018-19:

  • Against East Carolina, placed fifth in the 100 breast (1:08.88) and sixth in the 200 breast (2:32.99).
  • In her collegiate debut against Johns Hopkins and Delaware, finished 10th in the 100 breast (1:11.88) and 200 breast (2:37.35).

BACKGROUND:

  • Swam for Fox Swim Club
  • Posted a personal best in the 100 breast (1:22.07) at the 2018 Maryland Swimming Long Course Championships
  • Also posted a personal best in the 50 free (26.33) at the 2018 Maryland Swimming Senior Short Course Championship

PERSONAL:

  • Daughter of Timothy and Stacy Spelman
  • Has three siblings, Lauren, Timmy, and Cailin
  • Was a member of the National Honor Society in high school
