Biography
2015 Outdoor: Competed in multiple events as a part of the decathlon for the Retrievers in the spring... Has his best finish in the decathlon at the Morgan State Legacy meet with 5,645 points... During that same meet, he set a couple of season bests in different events... Set bests in the javelin (42.73m, 140'2"), 100m dash (12.15), 400m dash (54.16), 110m hurdles (17.16), high jump (1.89m, 6'2.25"), and long jump (5.95m, 19'6.25")... At the America East Championships, he set season bests in the pole vault (3.85m, 12'7.5"), shot put (10.32m, 33'10.25"), and discus (33.72m, 110'7")... Named to America East Honor Roll.
2014-15 Indoor: Participated in the high jump for the Retrievers... He set his season best jump, clearing a height of 1.83m (6'0") at the Terrapin Inviational.
2013-14: Redshirted last season
Background: Transferred to UMBC from Hagerstown Community College… Was the runner up in the high jump at both Maryland Indoor and Outdoor State Championships while at Boonsboro High School… Earned a 12th place finish at the Junior College D1 decathlon… Was a National Army Reserve Scholar Athlete in high school.
Personal: Son of Carol Kopp… Has two brothers, Steve and Rusty... Majoring in mechanical engineering… Born on Dec. 3, 1992.
