2009-10: Swam career-best times in the 100-yard butterfly (51.19) and the 200 individual medley (1:54.26) at the Terrapin Cup Last Chance Meet… Also swam a season-best 200 fly (1:56.56) at the same meet… Highest finish during the dual meet season was seventh in the 200 IM against Drexel and Howard… Named to the America East Honor Roll.

2008-09: Swam career-best times in the 50-yard freestyle (22.15), the 100-yard butterfly (51.96) and the 200 fly (1:56.41) at the America East Championships… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

2007-08: Finished 31st in the 100-yard butterfly, 33rd in the 100 freestyle, 34th in the 200 free and tied for 38th in the 50 free at the GMU Patriot Invitational… Highest finish of the season came against Bucknell and Towson, where he finished fifth in the 200 free… Was part of the fourth-place 400 free relay against Rider in his first officially scored dual meet… Swam season best times in the 50 (22.45), 100 (49.08) and 200 freestyles (1:46.27) at the America East Championships.

Background: A letterwinner for Centennial High School in Ellicott City, Md….. Also swam for UMBC head coach Chad Cradock and assistant coach Chris Gibeau on the Retriever Aquatic Club… Named Most Improved for the Retriever Aquatic Club for the 15-16 age group… Also played soccer in high school… Member of the Honor Roll and National Honor Society.

Personal: One of two sons to Mitchell and Janet Donovan… Has a younger brother Preston, 19, who is a sophomore swimmer at UMBC… Majoring in enviornmental science and visual arts… Born Sept. 7, 1989.
