2009-10: Swam season-best times in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.38) and the 200 individual medley (1:56.45) at the America East Championships… Highest finish of the year came against Bucknell, where he finished fifth in the 50 breast.

2008-09: Finished eighth in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events and 10th in the 200 IM at the America East Championships... Earned silver in the 200 breast and was fourth in the 100 breast at the Patriot Invitational… Swam career-best times in the 100 breast (59.06) at the Patriot Invite and 200 breast (2:08.62) and 200 IM (1:54.79) at the America East Championships.

2007-08: Finished 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke and 36th in the 200 breast and 100 free at the GMU Patriot Invitational… Highest finish of the year came against Bucknell, where he finished third in the 200 breast in his first collegiate meet… Also finished fifth in the 50 and 100 breast at the same meet… Swam season-best times in the 100 breast (59.51), 200 breast (2:09.90) and 200 IM (1:57.24) at the America East Championships, and in the 50 (22.73) and 100 (50.38) freestyles at the Patriot Invite.

Background: A three-time conference champion for Spruce Creek High School... Also won district titles his junior and senior years… Named First-Team All-County from 2004-2006 and Second-Team in 2003… Also named to the All-Conference team in 2005 and 2006 and named Second-Team All-Central Florida in 2006… Swam on the Daytona Beach Speed club team with Olympic gold medal-winner Ryan Lochte… Lettered in basketball for the Hawks and led his team in three-point field goal percentage… Member of the debate club.

Personal: One of three children to Tom and Jana Deery… Brother, Kyle (24) swam for Florida, and sister, Kelsey (28), swam for Colorado State… Majoring in media and communications studies and aspires to be a sportscaster…. Born Oct. 9, 1988.
