Tiffany D. Tucker, UMBC's Director of Athletics, Physical Education, & Recreation is profiled in the May edition of College Athletics and the Law.
This monthly publication gives administrators practical guidance involving all legal issues affecting college athletics — including student-athletes with disabilities, facilities, sponsorships, coaches, gender equity, Title IX compliance, and more — so you can develop legally sound athletics programs.
Each issue provides solutions for the critical matters impacting your staff, coaches, and student-athletes, such as how to:
- Partner with disability services and counseling professionals to better support student-athletes with disabilities and mental health issues.
- Ensure the safety of student-athletes and athletics facilities — before, during, and after competitions.
- Teach student-athletes life skills to help prevent and manage crises.
- Promote responsible conduct among your coaches, staff, student-athletes, recruits, fans, and sports camp attendees, to help prevent claims of hazing, harassment, abuse, assault, and discrimination.
- Develop and negotiate coaching contracts and departmental policies and procedures that protect your school's best interests.
- Educate your staff, coaches, and student-athletes to avoid violations of rules and regulations.
