Men's Track and Field Continues Indoor Season at George Mason Patriot Games

UMBC track and field looks to build off their success last weekend at the George Mason Patriot Games this Friday and Saturday in Fairfax.

BALTIMORE– UMBC track and field looks to build off their success last weekend at the George Mason Patriot Games this Friday and Saturday in Fairfax. The Retriever women set a pair of new school records at the Penn State National Open, while the men had yet another strong showing at the meet.

Last Time Out (Penn State National Open):
  • Ibrahim Khairat led the Retriever field athletes on day one, taking third in the triple jump with a mark of 14.40m.
  • Toren Burr and Thomas Hamby finished ninth and tenth in the weight throw with marks of 15.47m and 12.86m respectively.
  • Ian Hoffman rounded out the field athletes taking eighth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.40m.
  • Jaeden Burke and Shavar Staats finished back-to-back in the 60m finals, placing sixth and seventh with times of 6.87 and 6.88. 
  • Sam Brosh placed eighth in the mile, crossing the tape in 4:15.54. Zachary Taylor was just behind him in 12th with a time of 4:19.89.
  • Marquis Miller led a quartet in the 400m taking ninth in a time of 50.41. Taheer Pierce (11th, 50.64), Jayo Adegboyo (12th, 50.64), and David Livingstone (16th, 52.17) rounded out the quartet.
  • Pierce also placed 12th in the 200m in a time of 22.26, just behind teammate Jaeden Burke in 11th in 22.22.
  • Michael Arnold also competed in the event, taking 14th place with a time of 22.75.
  • Cameron Hindle was the lone distance runner on Saturday to compete, finishing in 10th in the 3,000m in a time of 8:29.21.
  • Joseph Carlson competed in the shot put, placing ninth with a toss of 12.98m.
Up Next:
  • The Retrievers will open the month of February in Virginia, competing at the Liberty Open on Saturday, Feb. 5.
