Men's Track and Field to Compete at Penn State National Open This Weekend

UMBC track and field will continue their indoor season for the second straight weekend at Penn State, this time at the Penn State National Open on Friday and Saturday.

BALTIMORE– UMBC track and field will continue their indoor season for the second straight weekend at Penn State, this time at the Penn State National Open on Friday and Saturday. The Retrievers had a strong showing last week in State College, with Caitlyn Bobb winning the 300m at the meet.

When: Friday-Saturday, January 21-22 - Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 12 p.m.

Last Time Out (Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge):
  • In the field, Ibrahim Khairat had a pair of top ten finishes in the long jump and triple jump with marks of 6.44m and 13.71m respectively.
  • Ian Hoffman took fifth in the pole vault with a height of 4.40m. Toren Burr rounded out the field athletes with a third place finish in the weight throw at 16.70m.
  • Jaeden Burke led the sprinters in the 60m and the 200m. Burke took sixth in the 60m in 6.93 and fourth in the 200m in 21.87.
  • Shavar Staats finished just ahead of Burke in the 60m in fifth place in a time of 6.87. 
  • Cameron Hindle and Taylor Baranoski paced the distance runners taking seventh in the mile (4:12.93) and 1,000m (2:25.52) respectively.
  • The 4x400m relay team of Taheer Pierce, David Livingstone, Jayo Adegboyo, and Michael Arnold finished fifth with a time of 3:23.44.
