UMBC Men’s Track and Field Shines at Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge

UMBC track and field returns from a month hiatus to compete at the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday. Several Retrievers posted top marks at the meet, with several finishing in the top ten of various events.

State College, Pa.-- UMBC track and field returns from a month hiatus to compete at the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday. Several Retrievers posted top marks at the meet, with several finishing in the top ten of various events.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the field, Ibrahim Khairat had a pair of top ten finishes in the long jump and triple jump with marks of 6.44m and 13.71m respectively.
Ian Hoffman took fifth in the pole vault with a height of 4.40m. Toren Burr rounded out the field athletes with a third place finish in the weight throw at 16.70m.
Jaeden Burke led the sprinters in the 60m and the 200m. Burke took sixth in the 60m in 6.93 and fourth in the 200m in 21.87.
Shavar Staats finished just ahead of Burke in the 60m in fifth place in a time of 6.87.
Cameron Hindle and Taylor Baranoski paced the distance runners taking seventh in the mile (4:12.93) and 1,000m (2:25.52) respectively.
The 4x400m relay team of Taheer Pierce, David Livingstone, Jayo Adegboyo, and Michael Arnold finished fifth with a time of 3:23.44.
