BALTIMORE– UMBC track and field will head to Burlington looking to capture their first America East Championship on both the men's and women's side. The Retrievers are coming off a big weekend at the Penn Relays that saw several school records shattered.

Last Time Out (Penn Relays):
- The 4x100m relay team took first place at the Penn Relays on Saturday afternoon as the lone Retriever men's race contested. The team edged out America East rival Stony Brook in the race.
- The quartet of Shavar Staats, Marquis Miller, Brian Nelson, and Glory Fagbuyi earned gold with a time of 41.22, just ahead of the Seawolves in second by .36 of a second.
- In the field, Ibrahim Khairat finished fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 14.69m.
- Toren Burr rounded out the field with a 21st place finish in the javelin with his best toss coming at 55.35m.
Last Year at the Championships:
- Andrew Haberman won the hammer throw with a toss of 59.02m to earn all-conference honors. He became the third Retriever in the last four years to win the event. Hoffman won the pole vault clearing a height of 4.60m to earn all-conference honors.
- Jaeden Burke earned a spot in both the 100m and 200m finals with times of 11.07 (8th), and 21.95 (2nd) respectively. Shamar Barnes will join him in the 200m taking sixth in a time of 22.35. Mark Unger and Taylor Baranoski also earned a spot in the finals in the 800m and 1,500m. Unger finished in sixth in the 800m with a time of 1:54.16 with Baranoski taking eighth in the 1,500m in 3:59.19.
- Zachary Taylor earned ninth in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 9:40.56 and James Dennison took 11th in the 10,000m in 33:51.16 to round out day one.
- Jaeden Burke, Taheer Pierce, Shamar Barnes, and Jayo Adegboyo finished in second place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:18.78. Adegboyo, Burke, and Barnes teamed up with Darius Adams to take third in the 4x100m relay in a time of 42.13. The 4x800m relay team of Joel Evans, Tyler Dregely, Lamine Fofana, and Taylor Baranoski took fourth in 7:37.06.
- Burke earned a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 100m and 200m respectively. He turned in a time of 11.23 in the 100m and 22.09 in the 200m. Barnes was just behind Burke in sixth place in the 200m in a time of 22.37. Baranoski took ninth in the 1,500m (3:54.06) with Mark Unger taking fourth in the 800m in 1:53.70.
- Andrew Haberman and Maurice Johnson went eight-nine in the shot put with throws of 14.72m and 14.22m. Jordan Lomax led the field athletes with his sixth-place finish in the high jump clearing 1.84m.

- The Retrievers will head to the IC4A/ECAC Championships next weekend, May 13-15. The meet will be held at Walter J. Sable Stadium at Cary Field in Williamsburg, Va. on the campus of William & Mary.
