Fagbuyi Leads Men’s Track and Field at Fasttrack National Invite

UMBC men’s track and field competed against a strong field at the Fasttrack National Invite on Friday night in Staten Island. The Retrievers got a strong showing from Glory Fagbuyi who earned a top ten finish at the meet.

Staten Island, N.Y.-- UMBC men's track and field competed against a strong field at the Fasttrack National Invite on Friday night in Staten Island. The Retrievers got a strong showing from Glory Fagbuyi who earned a top ten finish at the meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Fagbuyi earned ninth place finish in the 60m dash, just missing out on the finals, finishing in a time of 7.09.
  • He also ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay with Shamar Barnes, Roger Wright, and Shavar Staats, finishing in sixth place in a time of 3:31.77.
  • Wright, Barnes, and Staats also had top finishes individually. Wright took 21st in the 60m dash (7.19), Barnes took 13th in the 200m (22.37), and Staats took 20th in the 200m (22.50).
  • Nicolas Alphonse and Marquis Miller rounded out the individual runners with Alphonse finishing 10th in the 60m hurdles (8.56) and Miller taking 16th in the 400m (50.17).
  • Thomas Hamby led the field athletes with a pair of top finishes in the shot put (18th, 13.05m) and the weight throw (13th, 14.23m).

The Retrievers will have their final tune up before the America East Championships next Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Penn State Tune Up.
