Retriever Track and Field Completes Day One of Penn State National Open

Results

State College, Pa.-- Just a handful of Retrievers took to the track on day one of the Penn State National Open on Friday. A quartet of men's athletes led the group with top 20 finishes in their respective events.

Alexios Prodanas had the best finish of any Retriever, taking 7th in the weight throw with a toss of 18.89m. Teammate Emmanouil Kamtsiklis finished 16th in the event with a throw of 17.08m. Rodney Sachiti placed 10th in the triple jump with his best jump coming on his second attempt at 14.15m.

The lone Retriever runner who earned a top 20 finish came from Matt Kingeter. Kingeter took 13th in the 5,000m run with a time of 15:17.25.

UMBC will conclude day two of the Penn State National Open, as well as the George Mason Patriot Games tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 26.
