Retrievers Have Strong Showing on Day Two of Colonial Relays

RESULTS

Williamsburg, Va.—UMBC track and field continued their strong showing at the Colonial Relays on day two in adverse conditions. Several Dawgs earned top ten finishes in several events.

The men where led by a trio of sprinters, led by James Oakley III in the 200m dash. Oakley earned silver with a time of 21.74. Brian Nelson and Erick Soetje earned a third and fourth place finish in the 100m dash and 400m dash respectively. Nelson finished in 10.91 while Soetje went 48.24.

Noel Njem took 20th in the 100m dash with a time of 11.27 while Nelson earned a 14th place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 22.46. Marcus Foster finished the 400m hurdles in 14th place, crossing the tape in 55.54.

In the field, Michael Parkent earned silver in the hammer throw university section with a toss of 45.34m (148'9").

The women were led by Abigale Slonski, who had a third place finish in the javelin with a throw of 42.13m (138'3").

Amani Wallace was the top Retriever track finisher, finishing fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 25.09. Teammate Yinka Alabi placed 14th in the event with a time of 25.70.

Erin Patrice earned a top ten finish in the 100m dash, taking eighth in a time of 12.37. Her sister Kara placed 22nd with a time of 12.61.

Other top Retriever finishers included Madeleine Entwistle in the 100m hurdles (15th, 15.11) and Funmi Daramola in the 400m dash (16th, 58.55).

The Colonial Relays will conclude tomorrow, April 1 starting at 9:30 a.m.
