Men's Track and Field Takes Third at America East Indoor Championships

BOSTON-- Senior Dominic Devaud (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) won the heptathlon as the UMBC men's track and field placed third at the 2010 America East Championships in Boston. The Retrievers finished with 97 points.

Devaud finished the heptathlon with 5,216 points, while junior Keith Onto (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro/St. Francis (PA)) finished second with 5,192 points and senior Michael Buccheri (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan/Monmouth) earned bronze with 4,892. All three were IC4A-qualifying times

Senior Camal Pugh (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) earned gold in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.59, while Devaud took bronze in 7.65. Sophomore Joshua Hewitson (New Market, Md./Linganore) broke the school record in the 500-meter dash, placing third in 1:03.77.

Senior Justin Acker placed fourth in the 55-meter dash in 6.56, while fellow senior Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College) crossed the line fourth in the 800-meter run in 1:54.06.

Albany won its fifth consecutive conference title with 205 points, followed by Binghamton (138), UMBC (97), New Hampshire (89), Boston University (88), Maine (84), Stony Brook (35), Vermont (29) and Hartford (13).

The Retrievers return to action March 6 for the IC4A/ECAC Championships back in Boston.
