Dunn's Career Performance Not Enough as Volleyball Falls in Five Sets

Durham, N.H. --  The UMBC Volleyball team took two of the first three sets, but host New Hampshire (12-13, 8-3) took advantage of its opportunities and won in five sets (17-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-13, 15-9) on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) finished with another double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, while Paola Rojas (San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico) had a team-best 14 kills with four digs and four blocks for the Retrievers (6-18, 2-8).

Junior Franchesca Reed (Aurora, Colo.) tied her season-high with 13 kills on .370 hitting with four blocks. Setter Taylor Dunn (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished with a career-best 52 assists, while senior libero Kristin Watson (Bowie, Md.) had 25 digs and five assists.

Becca Elrod (Cary, Ill.) tied her career-high with 10 kills and added three blocks. Three-time defending America East Rookie of the Week Paige Krenik (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) had four kills and eight digs before leaving the match with an injury in the third set.

UMBC returns home to close out the regular season with a Friday match against undefeated in conference play Stony Brook, followed by senior day on Sunday against Hartford.
