Retriever Track and Field Wraps Up Competition at ECAC/IC4A Championships

BOSTON – The UMBC track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2014 ECAC/IC4A Championships as senior Jake Albino (Hampton, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and sophomore Marie Yuille (Bowie, Md./Oakland Mills) competed in event finals, Sunday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

A day after breaking the UMBC school record in the prelims of the one-mile race with a time of 4:08.12, Albino placed ninth in the event finals.  Racing against regional field, the senior concluded his indoor career by crossing the finish line at 4:12.20.

Yuille also set a personal-best on Saturday to advance to Sunday's finals.  The sophomore ran the sixth-fastest time of the day (1:14.04) in the prelims and then finished seventh in the finals with a time of 1:14.45.

UMBC's indoor season concludes this coming weekend as senior Andrew Smith (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) will compete in the 800m run at the 2014 NCAA Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.  Smith is the sixth Retriever in program history to advance to the national meet.
