Boston, Mass.—UMBC swimming and diving senior Emily Escobedo (New Rochelle, N.Y./Maria Regina) and freshman Abby Biddulph (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) were named America East Swimmer and Diver of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. This is the third time the duo has swept the weekly awards this year.
Escobedo continued her dominance in the pool this year, breaking a school record in the 100 fly, clocking in at 54.83. The senior hit a pair of NCAA B cuts at the Patriot Invitational in the 200 breast and 200 IM with times of 2:10.94 and 1:59.69 respectively. Escobedo also won silver in the 100 breast, touching in with a time of 1:02.20.
Biddulph competed in both diving events for the Retrievers, finishing 12th in the 1- meter dive with a score of 194.75 and taking home 13th in the 3-meter dive with a score of 186.10.
The Retrievers will be out of the pool until December when the Dawgs will take their annual training trip to Boca Raton, Fla. before hosting Howard on Alumni/Senior Day on January 7 at 1 p.m.
