Several Retrievers earned first place finishes, led by three individual wins by both Ahmed Wahby and Emily Escobedo. Wahby started his night by taking first place in the 100 back, touching the wall in a time of 50.23. He would follow that up with a win in the 200 fly in a time of 1:52.00 and another backstroke victory in the 200 with a time of 1:50.09.
Senior Gregor Spoerlein earned a pair of victories in the 50 and 100 freestyles, touching in with times of 20.76 and 45.50 respectively. Classmate Andrew McKissick picked up a win in the 1,000 free, winning the distance race in a time of 9:31.55.Philip Adejumo and Ilia Rattsev also picked up individual wins in the 100 fly (49.46) and the 200 free (1:40.55) respectively.
The men's 400 free relay team of Rattsev, Connor Ganley, Wahby and Spoerlein touched in with a time of 3:02.90.
On the women's side, Emily Escobedo earned a trio of wins on Friday night in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. She touched in with times of 1:02.23 and 2:13.49 in both breaststrokes respectively. The senior finished the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.80 to lead the Retriever women.
On the boards, freshman Abby Biddulph earned a second place finish in the 1 meter dive with a season best score of 204.65.
Last Time vs. the Tigers:
UMBC and Towson will be meeting for the first time since the 2011-12 season, where the Retriever men defeated Towson 171-114, but fell to the women, 136-164.
UMBC will return to the pool on Saturday, October 29 with a meet at Gardner-Webb at noon.
