Sophomore Emily Escobedo broke another school record, improving on her seeding for NCAA's on Saturday at the ECAC Championships. Several Retrievers earned top eight finishes in final heats.

UMBC Continues Strong Showing at ECAC Championships
UMBC swimming and diving competed on day two of the ECAC Championships at the University of Pittsburgh. Several Retrievers competed, with many setting personal records and school records.

Several Retrievers Head to the Steel City for ECAC Championships
The UMBC swimming and diving team will make the trek to the University of Pittsburgh for the ECAC Championships. Both the men and women are coming off championships in their respective conferences (CCSA and America East).

Women’s Swimming Honored as Fall 2014 CSCAA Scholar All-America Team
The UMBC women’s swimming and diving team earned CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America) Scholar All-America Team, as announced by the CSCAA on Tuesday. The award is given to the team whose GPA was a 3.0 or better during the fall term.

Escobedo Earns ECAC Swimmer of the Week
UMBC sophomore Emily Escobedo (New Rochelle, N.Y./Maria Regina) was named ECAC Division I South Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday. Escobedo earns the award following her performance in the America East Championships, where she earned Most Outstanding Swimmer for the second year in a row.

CHAMPIONS! UMBC Swimming and Diving Claims the 2015 America East Championship
For the fourth time in school history and first time since 2011, UMBC women’s swimming and diving took home the America East Championship, edging out New Hampshire on the final day. The Retrievers scored 791 points, just edging out UNH, who had 777.

Sophomore Emily Escobedo (New Rochelle, N.Y./Maria Regina) set another school record with her win in the 100 breast. This gives her two wins in as many days, as the Retrievers continue at the America East Championships.

Women’s Swimming and Diving Heads to Massachusetts for America East Championships
The UMBC women’s swimming and diving team will make the trek to WPI (Worcester Polytechnic Institute) in Worcester, Mass. for the 2015 America East Championships. The Retrievers will look to avenge their second place finish from a year ago, where they fell to reigning champs New Hampshire.

Darelius Earns Fifth America East Diver of the Week Honors
UMBC junior Coco Darelius took home her fifth America East Diver of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office. The Retrievers are coming off a 188-112 loss to East Carolina to close out the regular season.

Retrievers Fall Short Against East Carolina on Saturday
UMBC fell to East Carolina on Saturday, as the men were defeated 154-145 and the women 188-112. The Retrievers and Pirates took it all the way to the wire, as the men squeaked by with the last relay of the day.

UMBC Closes the Regular Season Against East Carolina on Saturday
UMBC will host the Pirates in the regular season finale. It will also be senior day for the Retrievers, as 11 Retrievers will be honored prior to the meet.

Lindsey Prather to be Inducted into UMBC Athletics Hall of Fame
Lindsey Prather has been named as one of six former Retriever student-athletes that will be inducted into the UMBC Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, Jan. 31. A dinner and subsequent ceremony will take place, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Westin BWI Airport Hotel.

UMBC freshman Jonas Gutzat (Lappersdorf, Germany/BBS Nuernberg) and junior Coco Darelius (Rye, N.Y./Rye) earned ECAC Rookie and Diver of the Week honors, as announced by the ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) on Wednesday.

Retrievers Coast to Victories Over Howard
The UMBC swimming and diving teams picked up victories over Howard on Saturday. The men (6-1) won 121-92, while the women (5-1) earned a 121-95 victory. UMBC won every event on the day.

UMBC returns to the pool against the Bison on Saturday, January 10. The Retrievers have not had a meet since competing in the Patriot Invitational on November 20-22.

UMBC junior Coco Darelius (Rye, N.Y./Rye) earned her third America East Diver of the Week honor this year. Coco earned two second place finishes to pace UMBC divers.

The UMBC swimming and diving team finished the Patriot Invitational on Saturday, with the men finishing in third place, while the women finished seventh. The meet closed out the 2014 portion of the schedule.

The UMBC swimming and diving teams returned to the pool today on day two of the Patriot Invitational. Sophomore Emily Escobedo picked up another individual victory on the day.

Retriever swimming and diving will head back to the pool, following their nearly month long hiatus. The teams will head down to Fairfax, Va. to take part in the Patriot Invitational this weekend, to close out the fall portion of the schedule.

UMBC junior diver Coco Darelius (Rye, N.Y./Rye) was named America East Diver of the Week for the second consecutive week. Darelius led the Retriever divers this week, breaking two school records in on meet.

Retrievers Race Past George Washington on Saturday
The UMBC swimming and diving teams took home victories against George Washington on Saturday, with the men winning 149-120 and the women winning 160-134. The Retrievers move to 5-1 and 4-1 on the year.

UMBC will head to our nation’s capital on Saturday for the last dual meet of the fall. The Retrievers are coming off sweeps at the CCSA North Invitational last Saturday and Sunday. In the process, head coach Chad Cradock earned his 200th career victory.

The America East Conference office announced the winners of the Swimmer and Diver of the Week for the conference on Tuesday. Sophomore Emily Escobedo (New Rochelle, N.Y./Maria Regina) and junior Coco Darelius (Rye, N.Y./Rye) took home the honors for the week ending October 19, 2014.

Cradock Records 200th Career Win at CCSA North Invite
The UMBC swimming and diving teams completed the CCSA North Invitational with wins over NJIT, VMI and Gardner-Webb on Sunday. In the process, head coach Chad Cradock recorded his 200th career win. Cradock also becomes the winningest coach in program history, surpassing Sid Burkot.

Coco Darelius Sets School Record on 3 Meter Dive at CCSA North Invite
The UMBC swimming and diving teams had a strong showing on day one of the CCSA North Invitational on Saturday. Several Retrievers won their events, including the men taking both relays. Junior Coco Darelius (Rye, N.Y./Rye) set a school record on the 3 meter boards. Coco scored a 300.60 on Saturday.

The UMBC swimming and diving teams will host the CCSA North Invitational this weekend, October 18-19. The teams are coming off of losses at Navy this past Wednesday. Both squads are 1-1 on the year.

The UMBC swimming and diving teams fell to Navy on Wednesday. The men fell 151-138, while the women lost 154.5-143.5. Both the men and the women fall to 1-1 on the year.

The UMBC swimming and diving teams travel to Annapolis for a midweek meet against Navy. The Retrievers are coming off wins against Rider on Saturday.

The UMBC swimming and diving teams opened the dual meet season with wins against Rider. The men took a 158-125 victory, while the women were 156-115 winners.

The UMBC swimming and diving teams play host to Rider University on Saturday. The meet with the Broncs will be a part of the Homecoming Weekend festivities on campus.

Brandt Nigro joins the UMBC Swimming and Diving staff as an assistant coach for 2014-15, head coach Chad Cradock announced this week. Nigro comes to Baltimore from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
