Kadet Earns Post-Graduate Scholarship from MACDA
Women’s soccer goalkeeper Lauren Kadet has been awarded one of three 2014 Maryland Association of College Directors of Athletics (MACDA) post-graduate scholarship awards. Ellie Miskiel from Washington College and Rob Koski from Harford Community College were also among those receiving the awards.

Women’s Soccer Takes Part in Successful Charity Event
The UMBC women’s soccer team traveled to Howard High School in Columbia, Md. over the weekend to take part in its first Headers For Hope event on Saturday, April 12. The Retrievers joined four local universities in the women’s soccer showcase that helped to raise money for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – UMBC women’s soccer did all it could to hold off the fourth-ranked team in the nation and the top team in their bracket, but senior goalkeeperLauren Kadet’s (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) six saves were not enough to hold off Virginia Tech as the Hokies punched home a goal in each half to end the Retrievers’ Cinderella season in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night at Thompson Field.

BALTIMORE – UMBC women’s soccer continued the unimaginable, garnering its first-ever conference tournament title, as red-shirt junior Jessy Brown (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) registered her sixth game-winning goal of the season to give No. 1 UMBC the 2-1 victory against No. 2 Stony Brook in the America East Championship game on Saturday evening at Retriever Soccer Park. The victory was the third straight for the Retrievers and their sixth at home in 2013.

BALTIMORE – UMBC women’s soccer senior goalkeeper Lauren Kadet (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) continued her pursuit of becoming the program’s all-time leader in saves, stopping four shots, but it was not enough as the Dragons’ freshman forward Shyanne Kimbrough registered a pair of goals in a 3-0 DU victory in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at Retriever Soccer Park. Kadet is 13 saves from tying Nadine Henchcliffe (1993-95), who leads with 339 career saves.

BALTIMORE – The UMBC women’s soccer team looks to build momentum off of Sunday’s 2-1 victory against American, as it takes on St. Joseph’s and Drexel over the weekend. The black and gold will travel to Philadelphia on Friday, Aug. 30 for a 7:30 p.m. matchup versus the Hawks at Sweeney Field, before returning home for a UMBC soccer doubleheader on Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Retriever Soccer Park. The men open up the afternoon taking on UNLV at 1 p.m., followed by the women battling Drexel at 4 p.m.
