Women’s Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award
KANSAS CITY, Kan.—The UMBC women's soccer team was honored with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 school year, the organization announced last week.
To be eligible for the award, a team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The Retrievers posted a 3.14 GPA for the last academic year.
Junior midfielder Aly Gazarek (Aldie, Va./Freedom/South Florida) was named to the America East All-Academic Team last month for maintaining a 3.83 GPA as a psychology major. In addition, 11 Retrievers were recognized on the America East Academic Honor Roll for earning a 3.0 GPA or better during the 2010 season, including five on the Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.5).
A total of 790 soccer teams (210 men, 571 women) received the NSCAA Team Academic Award.
