CLEVELAND – UMBC women’s basketball’s senior guard Raven Harris (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne/American) was one of 20 student-athletes honored in the 11th Annual Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Teams.

Stern Adds Three to Women’s Basketball 2012-13 Signing Class
BALTIMORE – UMBC women’s basketball head coach Phil Stern announced the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent. Abbie Hein (Fridley, Minn./Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran (Wis.)), Amanda Hagaman (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) and Marissa Somerville (Leonardtown, Md./St. Mary’s Ryken) will join the Retrievers for the 2013-14 season.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Despite shooting its second-lowest percentage of the season (24.6 percent), the third-seeded UMBC women’s basketball tied Friday’s afternoon’s America East Championship Quarterfinal contest at 43 with 36 seconds to go, but Vermont’s Lauren Wheeler knocked down her only trey of the game to lead the sixth-seeded Catamounts to a 47-43 victory over the Retrievers at SEFCU Arena.

VESTAL, N.Y. – UMBC women’s basketball senior guard Kristin Coles (Charles Town, W.Va./Notre Dame Academy/American) tabbed her second double-double of the year, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds, but the Retrievers were unable to overcome shooting 25.9 percent (7-for-27) in the second half as Binghamton cruised to a 62-45 victory on Senior Night at the Events Center.

HUNT VALLEY, Md. – The UMBC women’s basketball team participated in Sunday morning’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Maryland. Prior to the race, the Retrievers’ squad combined to raise $915 for the event.

BALTIMORE – UMBC head women’s basketball coach Phil Stern has announced the Retrievers’ will be led by three captains during the 2012-13 season, senior guard Kristin Coles (Charles Town, W.Va./Notre Dame Academy/American), junior center Dana Lewis (Brodhead, Wis./Brodhead) and sophomore guard Lauren Chase (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist).
