2017: Led UMBC across the line in the first two meets of the year (Mount St. Mary's, Navy) and scored in all six meets on the season…  Finished eighth of 85 competitors at Mount St. Mary's Dual 5k's to open the season and sliced over three minutes over his 2016 time at the Navy Invitational, placing 11th overall… UMBC's No. 3 finisher at America East Championships, placing 48th overall.

 

2016: Competed in all five meets for UMBC, scoring in the season debut and finale… Recorded a 12th place finish in the Mount 5k Duals… Crossed the line as the Retrievers’ No. 4 finisher at the America East Championships… Posted best 8k time of the season at Princeton, breaking 26 minutes at 25:47.5.

 

2015: Ran in just two races his freshman season... Kicked off the year with a time of 16:11 at the Mount 5K Duals... Ran a 27:03 just a week later at the Wolfie Invite.

 

Background: Competed in cross country and track and field while at Century High School… In cross country, he earned Carroll County Times First Team All-County honors his senior season, including Baltimore Sun Athlete of the Week … On the track, he helped lead the Knights to the Maryland 2A State Championship this past outdoor season… An individual champion in the 3200m, 1,600m, and 4x800m relay… Earned First Team All-Carroll County accolades three times, and Baltimore Sun First Team All-Metro honors … Earned the distinction of Athlete of the Year by the Carroll County Times in outdoor track and field... Son of Casey and Patricia Kane… Has one younger brother, Ryan, and a younger sister, Elizabeth… Majoring in biology with a career ambition to be a biological researcher… Chose UMBC over Maryland and Johns Hopkins… Lists favorite musical artist as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and favorite movie as Monty Python’s Holy Grail.
