2013: An America East All-Conference runner after placing third overall at the conference meet at Binghamton, leading UMBC to its first team title since 2005… Finished the 8k course in Vestal, N.Y. with a time of 25:07.32… Two weeks later, he led UMBC to its first top-ten finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals, placing 22nd overall to earn All-Region recognition by USTFCCCA… Completed the 10k Goodman Course at Lehigh with a school record time of 30:30… Broke the Retriever record at the 8k distance earlier in the year at the Princeton Invitational, placing 16th overall with a time of 24:21… Took fourth at the season-opening America East Pre-Conference Meet at Binghamton with a time of 25:40.2… Also scored at the Navy Invitational and the Paul Short Run at Lehigh, leading the Retrievers across the line at the meet in Annapolis by placing 11th with a time of 24:54.90… Selected to the America East All-Academic Team… Listed on the America East Honor Roll.
2012: Competed in six of the Retrievers’ seven races, scoring in each of the final four competitions… Ran a season-best 8K time of 25:01.00 at the Princeton Invitational to jump to eighth all-time at UMBC and help the Retrieves earn a fifth-place finish… Also ran the eighth-fastest 10K time in school history (32:22.90) at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals at Penn State… Despite not scoring, he ran a time of 15:39.90 at the season-opening 5K Spider Alum Open at Richmond to move to seventh in the record book… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Background: Named to both the All-State and All-Metro First Team as a senior in 2011... Helped lead Thomas Johnson to its third straight 4A Maryland State Track and Field Championship... Recorded his top performance during his junior year at the state meet when he ran the 1600m in 4:23 and the 3200m in 9:28.
