Men's Cross Country Places Eighth at America East Championships
Albany, N.Y.- The UMBC men's cross country team finished eighth in the America East Cross Country Championships held in chilly conditions at the University at Albany.
The host Great Danes and Boston University tied for the top spot in the men's race with 60 points apiece but a tie breaker gave the Danes the conference crown. Albany took four of the top 13 spots and won the breaker because the Danes' top finisher placed ahead of the Terrier's. The University of Maine (69 points) grabbed third and Binghamton University (90 points) rallied for a fourth- place finish. Stony Brook (130 points) took the fifth spot just ahead of the University of Vermont (138 points) in sixth. The University of New Hampshire (146 points), UMBC (201 points) and the University of Hartford (264 points) rounded out the pack.
UMBC was led by sophomore Brandan McGee (Hiram, Ohio), who placed 27th and ran the 8K course in 25:25.48. Junior T.J. Cowing (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) placed 30th, less than three seconds behind McGee. In his final conference championship, senior Sam Boimov (Montgomery Village, Md.) placed 47th in 25:58.09.
