Boston, Mass.—UMBC track and field sophomore Jamal Cody (Hereford, Md./Hereford) was named America East Male Track Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Cody earned his second award of the year after once again breaking the school mark in the 400m hurdles. The sophomore finished in sixth place at the Penn Relays in the race with a time of 52.27. That time broke his previous school record of 52.73 he set at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic a couple weeks earlier.
His time currently ranks him 70th in the country and first in the America East this year.
UMBC will kick off the championship season with the America East Championships this weekend. This year's meet will be held at New Hampshire on May 6-7.
