Philadelphia, Pa.-- UMBC track and field concluded the Penn Relays on Saturday with a slew of top ten finishes, as the Retrievers prepare for the America East Championships next weekend.
The men saw a trio of Relays finish in the tops five, lead by the 4x200m relay. James Oakley III, Brian Nelson, Noel Njem, and Afees Abolurin took second in the race with a time of 1:26.19. The same quartet took sixth in the 4x100m relay in a time of 41.71.
In the field, a duo of Retrievers earned top five finishes, as Thomas Johnson took third in the triple jump and Alexios Prodanas took fifth in the hammer throw. Johnson finished with a jump of 15.05m (49'4.5") while Prodanas finished with a throw of 63.74m (209'1")
On the women's side, the 4x200m relay team of Funmi Daramola, Amani Wallace, Erin Patrice and Yinka Alabi took third with a time of 1:40.30. The 4x800m relay team rounded out the day with an 11th place finish in a time of 9:17.57.
UMBC returns to the track at the America East Championships on May 6-7 in New Hampshire.
