Lewisburg, Pa.—UMBC track and field finished the Bucknell Outdoor Classic in style, breaking a pair of school records on the men's side. Several Retrievers earned top ten finishes on the day.
Jamal Cody took gold in the 400m hurdles, breaking the school record in the process with a time of 52.73. Not to be outdone was Alexios Prodanas who set a new school record in the hammer throw. Prodanas finished second with a toss of 62.32m (204'5").
The women were led by the 4x100m relay team who took gold in the event. Mercedes Tillman, Amani Wallace, Kara and Erin Patrice finished in 46.77.
Wallace and Tillman each earned top five finishes in different events. Wallace took fifth in the 400m dash (56.89) and Tillman took fourth in the 200m dash (25.21).
Other top female finishers included Madeleine Entwistle in the 400m hurdles (seventh, 1:03.29) and Funmi Daramola in the 200m dash (tenth, 25.56).
The Retrievers will be back on the track next Friday and Saturday, as the team will head to the Morgan State Legacy Meet and Princeton Invitational.
