BALTIMORE – The bulk of the UMBC track and field team will stay close to home this weekend as the Retrievers make a short trip across Baltimore for the two-day Morgan State Legacy Meet at Hughes Stadium. The meet will begin on Friday afternoon with the javelin and hammer throw competitions before resuming on Saturday morning with the track events. In addition, members of the Retriever distance team will make their way up to Princeton for the Larry Ellis Invitational.

The meet will kick-off on Saturday, March 29 with the hammer throw competition at 10:00 a.m., adjacent to the UMBC Softball Stadium. The first event on the track will be the 3,000m steeplechase which is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.

Brown Field House in Annapolis while the Terrapin meet will be held at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md., adjacent to FedEx Field.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago – Former UMBC track and field athlete and NCAA champion Cleopatra Borel was named the National Association of Athletics Administrations (NAAA) of Trinidad and Tobago Female Athlete of the Year, Sunday evening at the organization’s annual awards ceremony. In addition, Borel earned the “Women Open Field” award.
