Vestal, N.Y.- Sophomores Justin Carter (Randallstown, Md.) and Melker Svard (Gothenburg, Sweden) continued their torrid singles play, but perennial America East power defeated the Retrievers, 5-2, at the Bearcats' Sports Complex.

Svard improved to 13-6 this spring with a convincing 6-3, 6-1 victory over Alexander Maisin at the No. 2 slot.

The Retrievers played tight second sets at the Nos. 5 and 6 positions, but could not prolong the matches and dropped to 11-9 on the campaign.
