Svard Named America East Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Svard improved to 8-2 on the season at the No. 2 position in singles play with a pair of wins over George Mason and Drexel. He only dropped two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jimmy Lange of George Mason and combined with Justin Carter (Randallstown, Md./National Connections Acad.) in an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles versus the Patriots.
The second-year player fought off some resistance, but defeated Xabier Saavedra, 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 2 position at Drexel.
UMBC's Eliott Loubatie (Paris, France) captured the award last week.
The 9-3 Retrievers head west to Nevada-Reno for matches versus the host school, Seattle and Sacramento State before returning home to face George Washington on March 23.
