Men’s Soccer Summer Update: Retrievers Host Delaware in Sixth Annual “Kicks for Chase” Game; Alum Matt Watson Shining in the USL

The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region Release

Baltimore, Md.—UMBC men's soccer hosted Delaware for the sixth annual "Kicks for Chase" game to raise money for The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region on April 20. The Retrievers defeated the Blue Hens, 2-0 in the match, as the team raised over $4,400 for the organization.

"We are extremely grateful for the continued support of this tremendous cause," says UMBC Associate Head Coach, Anthony Adams. "Kicks for Chase has become an annual event where our program and local businesses raise money and bring awareness to Down Syndrome in memory of Chase Bugarin."

The game honored the memory of Chase Bugarin, son of Amy and Brian Bugarin '95. In September of 2012, Chase Ryan Bugarin was welcomed into the world by parents Bryan and Amy. Bryan was a decorated UMBC soccer player, who competed from 1992-95. Chase was born with Down Syndrome and after an 11-week fight, baby Chase passed away. The Retrievers teamed up with The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region to help raise funds to benefit children born with Down Syndrome in Chase's memory.

Under Armour provided commemorative t-shirts for the event, with Papa John's and Cartwells Dining Services donating refreshments during the game. Other major sponsors included Northwestern Mutual, Enterprise, and EmbroidMe of Catonsville.

About The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region: For sixth-three years, The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region has empowered people with differing abilities to live, work and play in our community by providing support services and advocacy to adults and children and their families in Harford and Cecil Counties.
