Men's Soccer Welcomes William & Mary to RSP on Wednesday Evening
The UMBC men’s soccer team continues its most challenging non-conference schedule in school history when the Retrievers welcome the College of William & Mary Tribe to Retriever Soccer Park on Wednesday, Sept. 24. William & Mary is one of five 2013 NCAA Tournament teams that the Retrievers will face in 2014. BALTIMORE – UMBC senior forward Kay Banjo (Upper Marlboro, Md. /Largo/Towson Univ.) scored the equalizing goal in the 68’ as the 21st-ranked Retrievers rallied for a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Loyola (Md.) before 1,983 fans on Baltimore Soccer Night at Retriever Soccer Park.

Men's Soccer Drops Double OT Heartbreaker to Cal St.-Fullerton, 4-3
Las Vegas, Nev. - UMBC took leads of 2-0 and 3-1, but could not hold off Cal State Fullerton and fell to the Titans on a goal with 37 seconds to play in the second overtime period by a count of 4-3. The 11th-ranked Retrievers fell to 3-2-1 on the season, while CSF improved to 1-3-2.

Men's Soccer Faces Cal State-Fullerton In Las Vegas Finale
UMBC takes on Cal State-Fullerton as the Retrievers complete play at the UNLV Nike Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 14. The Retrievers and Titans kick off at 7:00 EDT at Peter Johann Stadium.Both teams are seeking to reverse one-goal setbacks from the first day of action on Friday. CSF (0-3-2) fell, 2-1, to Detroit, while the 11th – ranked Retrievers (3-1-1) dropped a 1-0 decision to host UNLV.

UMBC Drops Contest in Regulation for First Time in 32 Contests; No. 11 Retrievers Fall, 1-0, at UNLV
Las Vegas, Nev. – Host UNLV ran its record to 5-0-0 as the Rebels scored midway through the first half and hung on to defeat 11th-ranked UMBC (3-1-1), 1-0, at Peter Johann Memorial Field. UMBC’s last setback in regulation occurred 32 contests ago, when they fell, 2-1, at Albany on Oct. 10, 2012.

Men's Soccer Faces Explosive UNLV Side Friday Evening to Open UNLV Nike Invitational
The UMBC men’s soccer program visits a familiar place this weekend as the Retrievers participate in the UNLV Nike Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. on Friday and Sunday, Sept. 12 and 14. The Retrievers take on the host Rebels (4-0-0) at Johann Stadium on Friday evening (10:00 EDT) and then face Cal State-Fullerton (0-2-2) on Sunday (7:00 EDT), before boarding a Sunday red-eye back to Baltimore.

College Park, Md. – UMBC freshman red-shirt goalkeeper Phil Breno (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) made six saves as 11th-ranked UMBC (2-0-1) played No. 7 Maryland (1-1-1) to a 0-0 double overtime draw before a huge crowd at Ludwig Field. The game was part of the Hampton Inn BWI Classic.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC senior forward Kay Banjo (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo/Towson U.) has been named the season’s first America East Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday, Sept. 2.Banjo earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors by recording two goals and two assists in UMBC’s two victories in the season-opening Doubletree BWI Classic.

UMBC Unanimously Tabbed 2014 America East Men's Soccer Favorite
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Winner of three of the last four America East titles, the UMBC Retrievers have been unanimously picked as the 2014 favorite in the conference's men's soccer preseason coaches' poll, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. The voting was conducted by the conference’s eight head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

Oumar Ballo Named to Hermann Watch List; UMBC Tabbed No. 19 in NSCAA Preseason Rankings
UMBC senior back Oumar Ballo was named to the 2014 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, as announced earlier today by on the “2014 NSCAA College Soccer Review Show.” Head Coach Pete Caringi’s UMBC Retrievers, the two-time defending America East Conference champions, were selected No. 19 in the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire Preseason College Rankings.

Phil Saunders Makes Professional Soccer Debut In Iceland
BALTIMORE –Former UMBC goalkeeper Phil Saunders (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) has signed a contract with BÍ Bolungarvík of the Icelandic First Division. The former 2012 America East Tournament Most Outstanding Player made professional debut on July 19 and earned the victory in the team’s 6-4 victory over Tindastóll.

Men's Soccer Announces 2014 Schedule; Five '13 NCAA Squads Highlight Slate
BALTIMORE – The UMBC men’s soccer program will compete against five teams that reached the 2013 NCAA Championships during their 2014 campaign, head coach Pete Caringi, Jr. announced today. The two-time defending America East Conference champions will also face eight squads that finished amongst in the top 50 in winning percentage in 2013. The Retrievers led the nation in winning percentage last season with a 16-1-3 (.875) mark.
