Dominant Scorers Jones, Cox are UMBC's America East Fans' Choice Player of the Year Nominees

Cambridge, Mass. - For the fourth straight season, fans of America East lacrosse can voice their opinion on who the best player in the conference is. Voting for the 2012 America East Men's and Women's Lacrosse Fans' Choice Player of the Year awards is now open with voting taking place on the league's Facebook page for the first time.

UMBC's nominees are junior attackman Scott Jones on the men's side and junior midfielder Lindsay Cox for the women. Jones is tenth in the nation in with 2.82 goals per game and has scored 17 times in his last five contests. He has excelled in America East play, scoring four goals vs. Hartford, five time vs. Stony Brook and four more, including the overtime game-winning goal vs. Albany. Cox just reached the 40-goal plateau in UMBC's 7-6 win over No. 19 Johns Hopkins. She has scored four or five goals in a game on five occasions in 2012.

Voting for the 2012 America East Men's and Women's Lacrosse  Fans' Choice Players of the Year will go until 12 p.m. (noon) on Monday, April 30. The winners will be announced that afternoon via release at AmericaEast.com.
