The Retrievers will be walking "the red carpet."
The UMBC's men's basketball program has been nominated for an ESPY award in the category of "Best Moment" at ESPN's 26th annual awards show July 18 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The event will be hosted by Danica Patrick and will air live at 8 pm | 7 pm central on ABC and Watch ESPN.
The network's flagship event is the one night each year when the sports world joins together to celebrate the best moments of the past year.
Head Coach Ryan Odom will represent UMBC at the event and several players from the 2017-18 squad are expected to make the cross-country journey as well.
UMBC became the first No. 16 seed in the history of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship to defeat a No. 1 seed when the Retrievers knocked off Virginia, 74-54, March 16, 2018 in Charlotte, N.C. (South Region).

The ESPYS and related events benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research in memory of the late Jim Valvano. At the first ESPYS in 1993, Jimmy V accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, reminded us to live each day to the fullest, and asked for our help in raising money for cancer research. You can help raise awareness of Jimmy V's dream by sharing/retweeting his powerful speech, which will be shared by @ESPN (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) as well as @ESPYS (Twitter) on July 18th.
