Road-Weary Men's Basketball Returns Back to RAC; Welcomes Maine in Nightcap of America East Twin-Bill

The home court has been sweet for the Retrievers as UMBC (4-11, 0-2 America East) are 4-1 at the RAC Arena in 2013-14. Aki Thomas' squad hosts an exposive Maine (3-11, 1-1) squad that leads America East in scoring on Saturday, Jan. 11. Tip-off time is set for 3:30 p.m. and is the nightcap of a league doubleheader at the RAC. RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC is coming off two road America East setbacks (in a four-day span) by a total of six points. Most recently, defending champion Albany outlasted the Retrievers, 73-72, in double OT on Wednesday. FR G Rodney Elliottcontinued his brilliant play, leading the visitors with 22 points. Elliott, a three-time league Rookie of the Week, is now seventh in the conference with 14.8 points per game. JR F Devarick Houston (19 pts.) and FR G Bryan Harris (18 pts.) also had seaosn-highs versus the Great Danes.

BLACK BEAR UPDATE: Maine is 2-2 in its last four outings, including a 82-66 victory over Binghamton in its league opener on Jan. 5. JR F Kilian Cato scored 17 points to lead Maine in that victory. The Bears traveled to Baltimore after an 80-65 loss at Hartford on Jan. 9. UM led the Hawks, 31-30, at the half. SO G Dimitry Akanda-Coronel leads UM with 14.6 points per game, while Zarko Valjarevic leads America East with 39 treys.

Who's Up Next: UMBC continues its rigorous stretch with a Jan. 15 contest at UNH. UMBC's first six league games occur in a span of 16 days.
