Men's Basketball Returns Home to Face Mount St. Mary's in Sunday Matinee

Mount St. Mary's at UMBC, 11-17-13

UMBC and Mount St. Mary's will meet for the 48th time when the in-state rivals compete on Sunday, Nov. 17 at the RAC Arena. The two teams met in Emmitsburg last season for the the first time since the 2002-03 campaign. The Mount captured that contest, 58-55 on Dec. 29. The game can be seen on www.umbcretrievers.tv and heard on www.q1370.com/1370AM/99.9FM with Gary Stein and Paul Mittermeier on the call.

RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC lost a tough 63-61 overtime decision at American at Bender Arena on Thursday evening. The Eagles (1-1) hit fi eld goals with less than two seconds to play in regulation and in overtime to tie and take the lead for good. Senior forward Chase Plummer led the squad with 12 points and posted his 11th career double-double with 12 rebounds. The Retrievers had an eight-point lead with less than four minutes to play, but were done in by poor free throw shooting for the third consecutive game.

MOUNTAINEER UPDATE: The Mount has had a daunting early season schedule, dropping road contests at West Virginia, 77-62, at Villanova, 90-59, and at Brigham Young, 108- 76. G Rashad Whack scored a team-high 19 points against the Cougars at the Marriott Center on Friday Night. The Cougars took a 20-point lead at the half to earn the victory. SR G Julian Norfl eet averaged 17.0 points per game in the Mount's first two outings.

WHO'S UP NEXT: The Retrievers remain at home and will welcome Loyola to the RAC Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The game will be televised regionally by the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
