The UMBC men’s basketball program will hold their second week of day camp, beginning Monday, July 28, and running through Friday, August 1. Campers are welcome to walk up and register on Monday morning prior to the start of camp at 9 a.m.

BOSTON, MA – UMBC guard Rodney Elliott has been named a finalist for the 2014 Kyle Macy National Freshman of the Year award, as announced by CollegeInsider.com on March 31. The Kyle Macy award is presented annually to the top freshman in Division I college basketball.

Elliott and Jones Set Marks, But Men's Basketball Falls to Host Albany in AE Quarters
Albany, N.Y.- The UMBC guard tandem of senior Quentin Jones (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) and freshman Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) each scored 18 points, but the Retrievers fell to a hot-shooting Albany squad, 86-56, in the America East quarterfinals at UA’s SEFCU Arena.

Rodney Elliott Is Unanimous Selection as America East Rookie of the Year
Albany, N.Y.- UMBC freshman guard Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) was named America East Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie-of-the-Year, in a unanimous vote by the league’s head coaches. Elliott, UMBC’s first men’s basketball player to earn Rookie-of-the-Year honors in 11 league seasons, was also selected to the America East Third Team and to the All-Rookie squad.

Men's Basketball Starts America East Tourney on Saturday vs. Host Albany
The fifth-seeded UMBC men’s basketball team opens competition in its 11th America East Men’s Basketball Championship when the Retrievers face No. 4 seed and host Albany on Saturday, March 8 at UA’s SEFCU Arena. The contest is the second quarterfinal game of four on the day, as top-seeded Vermont kicks off the afternoon by taking on No. 8 New Hampshire at noon. The No. 5 seed is UMBC’s highest since the 2007-08 team earned the No. 1 seed and went on to take the title. The two squads split a pair of thrilling contests this season, with Albany winning, 73-72, in double overtime at SEFCU on Jan. 8 and the Retrievers getting a last-second tip-in from Quentin Jones and triumphing, 71-69 at the RAC Arena on Feb. 12. Rodney Elliott Selected as AE Fans' Choice Player of the Year
Cambridge, Mass. – For the first time in the eight-year history of the award, a member of the UMBC Retriever men’s basketball team has been selected as America East Fans' Choice Player of the Year. Moreover, UMBC guard Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) becomes the first freshman to earn the selection in the sport of men’s basketball.

Men's Basketball Falls at Hartford, But Will Be No. 5 Seed in America East Tourney
West Hartford, Conn. – UMBC rallied late from a 24-point deficit, but the host Hartford Hawks defeated the Retrievers, 67-56, in the regular season finale at Chase Family Arena. UMBC (9-20, 5-11 America East) will be the No. 5 seed for next weekend’s America East Conference Tournament and face No. 4 Albany (15-14, 9-7) at 2:30 p.m. on Sat., March 8 at Albany’s SEFCU Arena.

Men's Basketball Concludes Regular Season at Hartford on Sunday
UMBC (9-19, 5-10 America East) plays its final game of the 2013-14 regular season when the Retrievers travel to West Hartford, Conn. to take on Hartford (15-15, 9-6) at the Chase Family Arena on Sunday, March 2. A win would guarantee the Retrievers the fifth seed in next weekend’s America East Tournament, its highest seed since the championship season of 2007-08. Furious Rally by UMBC Cagers Comes Up Just Short
BALTIMORE – UMBC rallied from an 18-point second half deficit to take a late lead, but visiting Binghamton won a tight 72-70 decision at the RAC Arena in the Retrievers’ final regular season home game of the campaign.UMBC freshman guard Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) led UMBC with 19 points.

Men's Basketball Hosts Binghamton on Saturday's "Senior Night"
UMBC (9-18, 5-9 America East) plays its final home game of the 2013-14 season when the Retrievers host Binghamton (6-20, 3-10) at the RAC Arena on Saturday, Feb. 22. UMBC will honor its three seniors (Quentin Jones, Chase Plummer, Brett Roseboro) playing their final home games and another (Jamar Wertz), who was unable to compete this year due to injury. Roseboro Nets Career-Best 20 Points, But UMBC Falls at Stony Brook
Stony Brook, N.Y.- UMBC senior post Brett Roseboro (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) scored a career-high 20 points, but host Stony Brook outshot the Retrievers, 72-53, at Pritchard Gym. Roseboro hit 8-of-15 shots from the floor, added a team-best nine rebounds and recorded UMBC’s lone two rejections of the game.

Jones' Late Tip-In Gives Men's Basketball 71-69 Win Over Albany
BALTIMORE – UMBC senior guard Quentin Jones’ (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) improbable tip-in with 2.4 seconds remaining broke a 69-all tie and gave the host Retrievers a 71-69 victory over defending league champion Albany in an America East contest at the RAC Arena. Jones and freshman guard Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) shared scoring honors with 16 points each.

Bangor, Maine – UMBC rallied from a 24-point deficit to take a late second half lead, but host Maine prevailed, 83-80, at Cross Insurance Center. UMBC senior forward Chase Plummer (Plainfield, N.J./St. Patrick) led all scorers with 23 points, while standout freshman guard Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) added 21.

Vestal, N.Y. – UMBC freshman guard Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) and senior post Brett Roseboro (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) each posted double-doubles as the visiting Retrievers defeated Binghamton, 73-61, at the BU Events Center. Elliott nearly posted a triple-double, scoring 14 points, and garnering season bests in rebounds (11) and assists (8). Roseboro scored 14 points and garnered a season-best 12 caroms to post his fifth career double-double.

BALTIMORE – Stony Brook won its fourth game in a row and improved to 5-0 in America East play, as the Seawolves (13-6) defeated host UMBC (5-14, 1-5), 81-62, at the RAC Arena. Senior forward Chase Plummer (Plainfield, N.J./St. Patrick) led UMBC with 21 points and seven rebounds and became the 12th player in school history to reach the 1,200-point plateau.

Sharp-Shooting Vermont Downs Men's Basketball in America East Contest
BALTIMORE – Visiting Vermont hit eight of its first 13 shots from behind the arc and went on to defeat UMBC, 73-47, in America East action at the RAC Arena. Men's Basketball Suffers Heartbreaking Double-Overtime Loss at Albany, 73-72
Albany, N.Y. – Albany senior center John Puk converted a free throw with 0.4 seconds left to give the host Great Danes a 73-72 double overtime victory over a courageous UMBC squad at SEFCU Arena. Three Retrievers were brilliant in the effort versus the defending conference champions. Elliott scored 22 points in 46 minutes of action, while Houston and freshman guard Bryan Harris (Oxon Hill, Md./Southern) scored career highs. Houston netted 19 points and added a team-best seven rebounds and six blocked shots, while Harris added 18 points.
