150 Retrievers Named to Winter/Spring Honor Roll, Second Most in America East

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A total of 150 UMBC student-athletes were named to the America East Winter/Scholar Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Thursday.  The Retrievers finished second in the conference behind only Binghamton who had 176 athletes earn the recognition.

A total of 1,253 America East athletes were named to the Honor Roll by earning a 3.0 grade-point-average (GPA) or better for the Spring 2012 semester.  Furthermore 645 of the student-athletes earned a spot on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for accumulating at least a 3.50 GPA during the semester.

In addition, the UMBC men’s swimming and diving team led all America East schools with 20 athletes named to the Honor Roll, which also ranks as the most athletes of any male Retriever squad.

The women’s track and field team led the female Retriever teams with a department-high 21 athletes, including nine athletes on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

With 61 student-athletes athletes named to the Fall Academic Honor Roll, 211 Retrievers earned academic honors with 13 cross country and track and field athletes overlapping the seasons and earning recognition for their classroom work in each semester.
