Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC will take a three-game win streak to Lowell after taking down George Washington in their most recent contest. The Retrievers got another big day from Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) with three RBI on three hits. UMBC fell behind 5-2 before fighting back for a 7-5 win to move to 10-15, 4-2 AE.
-Freshman Joey Goodwin (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) leads UMBC at the plate, hitting .440 since being placed in the starting lineup. Zack Bright (Fairfax Station, Va.) and AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) lead the team with 24 hits each with Wright leading the team with 16 RBI, 16 runs scored and nine doubles.
-Mitchell Wilson (Hagerstown, Md./St. James) leads the rotation with a 3.71 ERA in six starts and is tied for the team lead with two wins. Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Appalachian State) leads the bullpen with a 1.71 ERA in 14 appearances. He has a single season record seven saves with 48 strikeouts, which leads the America East.
Scouting the River Hawks:
-UMass Lowell will be playing their first games at home this season and are coming off a win against UMass on Wednesday and are 12-17, 3-6 AE on the year.
-Russ Olive leads the River Hawks at the plate with a .387 average with 41 hits and seven home runs. Colby Maiola is batting over .300 at .327 with a team best 27 RBI.
-Andrew Ryan leads the rotation with a 4.93 ERA in eight starts with 40 strikeouts in 42.0 innings pitched. Jack Riley leads the staff with 43 strikeouts as the River Hawks have a team ERA of 5.68.
-UMBC and UMass Lowell have met 15 times prior to this weekend with the Retrievers leading the series 9-6. The River Hawks won five of the first six meetings, but the Retrievers have won nine of the last ten including a 2-1 series win in Baltimore a year ago.
-The Retrievers return to Baltimore with a pair of midweek games on Tuesday and Wednesday. UMBC hosts Georgetown on Tuesday and Coppin State on Wednesday, both starting at 6 p.m.
