Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball opens up a back-to-back-to-back against Maryland on Tuesday afternoon in College Park. The Retrievers will play the Terrapins and travel to Towson in their final two road contests of the year before coming home to host Coppin State on Thursday.

Scouting the Retrievers (18-19):
-UMBC is coming off a split at Maine this past weekend that saw the Retrievers fall in game one, 10-7, before taking the finale 9-6 behind a big home run from Christian Torres (Miami, Fla./Miami Senior) the first of his career.
-A trio of Retrievers lead the team on offense, as Andrew Casali (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) is batting .320 on the year with a team best 48 hits and 27 runs scored. Hunter Dolshun (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) provides the power batting .318 with a team leading six home runs and 27 RBI. He is tied with Jamie Switalski (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) with a .564 slugging percentage, while Switalski has hit 17 doubles.
-On the bump, Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) leads the rotation with a 5.03 ERA, going 3-4 in ten starts. He has two complete games with 34 strikeouts. Jacob Christian (Nokesville, Va./Patriot) leads the Black and Gold with 45 strikeouts in 2017.
Scouting the Terrapins (31-15):
-The Terps come into the contest at 31-15 and is coming off a 1-2 weekend at Illinois this past weekend. The Fighting Illini fell in game one 9-4 before taking games two and three by scores of 6-2 and 8-6. The Terps have been stellar at home, going 18-1 in contests played in College Park.
-Marty Costes leads the team with a .351 average, having played and started in every game this year. Costes has collected 65 hits with nine home runs and 34 RBI. Zach Jancarski has also been a force on offense with 61 hits, 12 of which are doubles.
-On the mound, Brian Shaffer leads the staff with a 1.78 ERA in 12 starts. He has thrown one complete game with 83 strikeouts in 81 innings pitched. Ryan Selmer leads out of the pen with a 2.48 ERA and seven saves in 29 innings pitched.
Scouting the Tigers (17-29):
-Towson sits at 17-29 on the year after dropping two of three at James Madison last weekend. The Tigers took game one 8-6 before dropping the final two 7-4 and 7-6. They will face Eastern Shore on Tuesday before taking on the Retrievers.
-Richie Palacios leads the Tiger offense with a .339 average, leading the Tigers with 63 hits, 13 doubles, and four home runs. He is slugging .505 with 16 stolen bases. Richard Miller has driven in 30 runs, the most on the team.
-David Marriggi has the most wins on the Tiger staff, going 4-4 in four starts. He has a 3.58 ERA in 37.2 innings pitched. Dean Stramara has fanned the most batters on the team with 49 strikeouts in 53.1 innings pitched.
Scouting the Eagles (11-30):
-The Eagles sit at 11-30 on the year, having lost two of three to Delaware State on Saturday and Sunday. Coppin State took the finale 11-9 after dropping games one and two, 8-4 and 12-8.
-Nazier McIlwain leads the Eagle offense with a .383 average, playing in all but one game for the Eagles. He has 57 hits, 11 doubles and three home runs to go along with 33 RBI, all bests on the team. Brett Helmbrecht and Isaiah Wilson are batting over .300 with .330 and .308 aerages.
-Devin Rivera Ozuna leads the pitching staff with a 4.36 ERA in seven starts, going 2-2 in those starts. Krystian Negron is right behind him a 4.68 ERA with a team best 46 strikeouts.
-Maryland and UMBC have played 41 times before Tuesday with the Terrapins leading the series 29-11-1. The two have not played since 2014 where Maryland won 6-0. The last UMBC win came back in 2005 where the Retrievers won 9-7 in College Park.
-Towson and UMBC will be meeting for the 90th time with Towson leading 48-40-1. Earlier this year, the Retrievers fell 7-3 in extra innings on March 8. UMBC had won the previous five meeting entering 2017.
-Coppin State and UMBC met last month were the Eagles picked up a 10-4 win, the first over the Retrievers since 2004. UMBC holds a 46-2 lead in the all-time series.
-UMBC will have the weekend off before taking on Georgetown on Tuesday, May 16 and Stony Brook Friday-Saturday May 19-20.
