Scouting the Retrievers (2-9):
-UMBC will be playing for the first time in ten days, as winter weather hit the Baltimore area this past week, cancelling four games for the Black and Gold. The Retrievers are 2-9 on the year, coming off a 1-2 weekend at UNC Asheville March 10-11.
-Collin Stack (Jamestown, N.Y./Monroe CC) leads the Retrievers at the plate, hitting .326 with a team best 15 hits, ten runs scored and five RBI. Hunter Dolshun (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) is batting .318 with seven hits and three doubles on the year, with Jamie Switalski (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and Chris Convers (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) each belting a home run for UMBC.
-RHP Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) will get the start for the Retrievers on the hill. Chanin is second on the team with a 4.15 ERA, going 0-2 in two starts. Andy Rozylowicz (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) leads the staff with a 2.45 ERA in four appearances. Jacob Christian (Nokeville, Va./Patriot) leads the Black and Gold with 20 strikeouts.
Scouting the Colonials (8-11):
-George Washington comes into the mid-week contest at 8-11 after taking two of three from Monmouth this past weekend in Arlington. The Colonials dropped the series opener, 3-1 before taking the final two by scores of 12-0 and 4-0.
-Bobby Campbell and Mark Osis lead the team offensively, as both are hitting over .300. Campbell is batting a team best .338 with 24 hits, 13 runs and a team high 15 RBI. Osis is hitting .304 with 21 hits and 16 runs scored. He has a team leading five doubles and ten RBI.
-LHP Kevin Hodgson will start for the Colonials on Tuesday, making his first start of the year. He has appeared in three games with a 3.86 ERA in 2.1 innings pitched. Brady Renner leads the staff with a 2.74 ERA in five starts going 1-3. Will Kobos and Elliott Raimo each lead GW with 17 strikeouts.
-The Colonials and Retrievers will be meeting for the 50th time with George Washington holding a 31-18 lead in the all-time series.
-UMBC has won two of the last three, including a split last year with each team winning on the road.
-The Retrievers will host America East foe Albany this weekend with a three game set at Alumni Field. The Great Danes and Retrievers will play a double header starting at noon on Saturday with a single game on Sunday also at noon.
