Sept. 9 - Sept. 15, 2013
Forward Jessy Brown (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) helped UMBC to extend its unbeaten streak to four games, following a 2-0-1 week for the Retrievers’ women’s soccer team. Brown tallied the first goal of her career on Friday versus Howard, registering the eventual game-winner in the 33rd minute, in what would be a 3-0 Retriever victory. The red-shirt junior added her second game-winner of the week on a corner kick from junior back Melissa Hummel (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) in the 85th minute against Bucknell, guiding UMBC to a 1-0 victory.
Brown earned America East Conference Player of the Week honors following her week’s performance, the first UMBC women’s soccer player to receive the weekly award since Sandra Vacarino in Aug. 2010.
