Rodney Elliott nearly recorded UMBC's first triple-double in 19 years, with a 14-point, 11-rebound, eight-assist effort in the Retrievers’ victory over Binghamton. The 11 rebounds and eight helpers were both team season highs this season. The Baltimore, Md. native then converted a team season-best 12 free throws in a narrow setback at Maine on Saturday.
Elliott has scored in double figures in 18 of 22 games during his freshman season and his 21-point effort versus Maine was his fourth of 20 or more points. The freshman guard was named America East Player of the Game in both contests last week and has already passed the 300-point plateau.
